About Mayo

I was born and raised on Long Island (New York), joined the Air Force at 25, and came here to Washington to be a survival medic at 35. I got a rare form of cancer at 37 and they told me to get my affairs in order…. I had 3 months to live. Sorry but I still had to finish raising my kid, and I had dreams to make come true! A year & a half later I came down with another rare & deadly disease. I was told if it didn't kill me, I'd be in a wheelchair the rest of my life. Again I said no! I had many health problems with many side effects to deal with. I was medically retired. 3 Different narcotics later, I was over 220 lbs, sitting in front of the TV. It felt like I had mud in my veins! I couldn't think straight, or move, or breathe. It was awful!

Don't stand too close to me or you may get hit with a lightning bolt...

I finally took matters into my own hands & did things my way. I got rid of the narcotics, started smoking marijuana, and began water aerobics. I lost over 100 lbs, & could think, move, and breathe again! A year and a half later, I volunteered to teach the water fitness class, and have been doing it for 27 years now! I love it! The water has helped me better control and even defeat some of my medical problems! It has helped me recoup faster after injury and surgery, kept me pretty agile for my age, and kept me mobile!

My greatest fun is taking care of my granddaughter when the parents are working!
